From Crazy Busy to Crystal Clear:
An Interview with Blake Bennett from Zimple Digital
Blake’s situation
How long had you been in business for?
Zimple Digital had been in business for approximately 10 years prior to a conversation with a neighbour who recommended Matt.
The challenge was that I had a vision for the business which was taking a lot of my time and effort. Trying to be the puppet master and hold all the strings together and forge our way from a small to medium size business. This was taking me away from my home life. Having young children and the vision for our lives was crumbling and I didn’t realise it. I just kept plowing forward until my wife put a stop to it and basically gave me an ultimatum.
What challenges were you facing?
How did those challenges affect your business and personal life?
I was a blinded by the vision of everything being okay once I got over this next milestone for the business. I didnt realise that after every milestone there was a bigger one on the other side which led me to putting in more hours in parts of the business where I wasn’t necessarily great. The business wasn’t getting the best out of me, and not being present at home was taking a toll on my family.
What helped?
What strategies, frameworks, or exercises were beneficial?
Identifying my personality type and how to best apply my strengths and weaknesses so I could get the best out of myself, which ultimately was better for the business.
Greater self awareness to understand a little more about how my body works. Specifically how to manage my nervous system so I knew how to “cool down” in certain situations.
Were there any other insights developed which have been helpful?
I really enjoyed the deeper approach to Matt’s work. He has another level of insight when it comes to motivation, and how to be successful without foregoing peace of mind. This has helped me in business and has certainly been something I’ve adapted through everything I do in life, helping me to be the best husband and parent I can be.
The results for Blake
Restructuring my work life certainly has benefited both the business and me personally.
Opening my mind to some healthier ways to look at things. This absolutely reset my somewhat narrow view of the world.
I feel like I have a greater handle on the way I interact with my family my friends, and everyone in general by dropping some of the egocentric things that held value to me in the past, but with hindsight were actually holding me back.
My stress levels dropped, my focus sharpened, and my efforts became more aligned with what truly matters.
Are there any specific changes?
I’m certainly doing more valuable work for the business and it's taking a lot less of my time.
As a result the business has easily doubled in size.
Looking back, I honestly fear what might’ve happened without Matt’s support and guidance. I’m incredibly grateful not only to have worked with him, but to still have him in my life years later.
Even if you feel like you’ve got everything under control, a conversation with Matt can help you unlock an even better version of yourself—and that benefits not just you, but everyone around you.
How have you benefited?
Blake Bennett
“Working with Matt didn’t just shift the direction of my business—it changed my entire life. My stress levels dropped, my focus sharpened, and my efforts became more aligned with what truly matters. Every now and then, you’re lucky enough to cross paths with someone who sees the best in you—even when you can’t see it yourself. For me, that was Matt..”
