You’re allowed to enjoy yourself too.

“You’re allowed to enjoy yourself too.”

I said this to a business owner last week. It brought a tear to his eye.

Not because business was failing.
Not because life had completely fallen apart.

But because he had become so consumed by responsibility, pressure, and trying to be everything for everyone else, that he’d forgotten how to actually enjoy his business and life.

Everything had become serious for him.

Even rest had started to feel like something that needed to be earned. And he never found time for it.

It was a clear example of how easy it is to drift into survival mode and not know how to get out.

To become so focused on carrying responsibility for clients, staff, family, and outcomes, that enjoyment disappears into the background.

One of the most powerful parts of the conversation was realising that reclaiming joy often doesn’t begin with massive change.

It often starts with small and simple wins.

There’s truth in the old cliche - “enjoy the simple things in life”…

or the other saying…

“if you can’t be happy with a cup of coffee, you won’t be happy with a yacht”.

So we’ll start simple, and find that everyday joy again.

Because the simple things are the very things that bring people back to themselves.
