Success isn’t what we’re sold.
I was sold a furphy (aka a lie). And I don’t think I’m alone.
The first few years of business are a buzz.
New ideas. New opportunities. Energy. Unbridled enthusiasm.
Build, create, and push forward.
The hours don’t seem to matter. It all feels worth it.
Putting your stamp on the world.
Creating your freedom.
Then a few years pass.
And you look around at what you’ve actually built.
A very busy life.
Full. Demanding. Stretched.
An overactive mind.
An unsettled nervous system.
You’ve made it… but you’re not at ease.
Time is hard to find for the important people and activities. Meaningful conversations are interrupted by an endlessly beeping phone or a distracted mind.
For me, success is about owning my time and mind. It’s about being able to deeply enjoy my relationships and life.
Business exists to support this, not the other way around.
I don’t care about anyone else’s idea of success. No more furphys for me.
I’m just doing my thing, in a way that respects myself and others.
Success isn’t what we’re sold.
It’s what actually works, in this chapter of life, guided by what really matters most.
